[It is not permissible for a Muslim woman to perform Hajj without a Mahram¹]
Al-‘Allāmāh ʿAbdil-Azīz ibn Bāz (رحمه الله) stated:
“It is not permissible for a Muslim woman to perform Hajj without a mahram. The Prophet ﷺ said: “A woman should not travel except with a mahram.”
Some scholars have permitted Hajj (with a group of) trustworthy women even without a mahram, but this is a weak opinion. The correct view (is what is in line) with the saying of the Prophet ﷺ: “A woman should not travel except with a mahram.”
However, if she performs Hajj with (a group of) women, her Hajj is valid. But she must still repent to Allāh — because she has erred and sinned. So she must repent to Allāh, feel remorse, and resolve not repeat the likes of this (action). And her Hajj is valid, In Shaa Allah, because she fulfilled the rites of Hajj. So, it is valid despite the sin of her opposing the Sunnah by performing Hajj without a mahram.
Allāh is the One who grants success, and to Him, the Exalted and Most High, belongs perfect wisdom. And she must repent for that. Na‘am.

¹A Mahram is a man whom a woman is permanently prohibited from marrying, due to kinship, such as her father and her brother, or due to a permissible reason (by the Sharī’ah), such as a husband, or the husband’s father, or the husband’s son (from another wife) or a foster father through breastfeeding, a brother through breastfeeding, and those similar to them. قال العلامة عبدالعزيز بن بار (رحمه الله):ـ
لا يجوز للمسلمة أن تحج بدون محرم، النبي ﷺ قال: لا تسافر امرأة إلا مع ذي محرم وقد ذهب بعض العلماء إلى جواز الحج مع ثقات النساء بدون محرم ولكنه قول مرجوح، والصواب: ما قاله النبي ﷺ: لا تسافر امرأة إلا مع ذي محرم لكن لو حجت مع النساء صح حجها، وعليها التوبة إلى الله؛ لأنها أخطأت وأثمت فعليها التوبة إلى الله والندم وأن لا تعود إلى مثل هذا وحجها صحيح إن شاء الله؛ لأنها.. أدت مناسك الحج، فصح مع الإثم في مخالفتها السنة، في حجها بدون محرم، والله ولي التوفيق، وله سبحانه وتعالى الحكمة البالغة وعليها التوبة من ذلك. نعم.
